29 juillet Following upBeen really busy recently, gets up at 7.30am and home 8.00pm, working on IFA report research, IPO case presentations, trying to find my way through the listing rules of hkex and got collegue and boss relationship to maintain plus wearing suits. Interning life is so much different compared with university. Trying to learn really quickly and enjoying it. Confidence is growing with understanding day by day, good for me:)
P.S. at last found myself motivation to research into details financial area, guess the mystery is no longer present, hence the uncertainty ie the scary part.
20 juillet Intern diary, day oneToday is my first day working as an intern in an investment bank. The thought of today maybe the beginning of my real career is so fucking cool.
So i got up really early, well compare with the first two months of my summer vacation, took a bus and 20 minutes later there it is: the BANK OF CHINA TOWER!!!!(i know^_^ and for the record, i'm not doing intern in BOC, it's an office building as well) The elevator is huuuge, i mean u can play basketball there, literally... office is on the 28th floor and the view was HORROBLE, there is absolutely no view at all...the sight is blocked by some huge cement support for the building(see the crosses on the side of the building, yeah that's the annoying thing...), and on the very corner of the room, there is a tiny tiny window where u can have a glimpse victoria bay.
Time to get down to work...Had a meeting with the manager of corperate finance department, and then some girls from the human resource to fill in some forms. And then i got a mentor assigned to me: Vela. a nice lookin girl from shanghai, who just finished her master degree in hongkong and got in the office 3 months ago...i guess i'm not the only newbee here:P but she's apparently much better equipped with the finacial knowledge than i do.(she knows all the fancy terminologies^_^)
The first mission i've got is to go through charpter 13,14 and 14a of Mainboard Listing Rules of hk exchange. They are looooonnnnng and booooring，see for urself(http://www.hkex.com.hk/rule/listrules/vol1_2.htm).
Too tired to continue now...the story will continue tomorrow
9 avril V for VendettaWatched the movie on friday. Some thoughts:
One real smart idea of the story is that you never get to see the face behind the mask of the real V. Which make V everyone and everyone V, just like the last scene of the film which everyone took off their identical V masks.
V is no longer a single man, he turns into every goodwill: justice, hope, saviour and most importantly an imortal symbol that will never conform under totalitarian tyranny: the will for freedom. Such will is undefeatable and will live among everyone who saw the story.(hopefully:P)
It seems every hollywood movie has a good-always-defeat-bad ending, which of course makes you feel good but makes movie not necessarily as impactful as possible-alternative endings. This is probably why i like 1984 much more, for winston is executed by the tyranny in the end smiling, not for some 'hope' that one day a V might stand out to free everyone, but for he has been brain washed into believe in the totalitarian system that he fought against in the first place, which is the very reason of him being executed.
How did i feel after finishing the 1984? Horrible, so depressed that the sky seems to be collapsing. But the unconvenience is what made i think, which is the purpose of reading that book. And i love such thinking.
